A Worthing security firm is hoping to raise £1,000 for St Barnabas House by taking part in this year’s Night to Remember midnight walk.
Secure Site UK, who have been providing security solutions nationwide for over 10 years, have entered a team of five into the annual moonlit fundraising event.
Team leader Jade Sketchley said: “I had seen it advertised for a number of years and always wanted to do it. We had a chat in the office and discovered that the others wanted to do it too, so we decided to have a bit of fun and do a Secure Site UK Team with a goal of raising £1000.
“None of us have previously done the walk, so we are being brave by doing the 13.1 mile route!
“Marnie (Williams) has, however, raised funds for St Barnabas before. She walked the Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours last April in memory of her son’s friend who tragically passed away.”
Taking place on Saturday 24 June, this is the tenth time that Night to Remember has taken place, and this year’s walk is set to be the biggest yet.
As in previous years, there is a choice of 7, 13.1 and 20 mile routes, all of which will include a walk around Worthing pier for the first time this year.
The hospice is hoping that over 1,000 ladies will take part in the walk along Worthing seafront to raise vital funds to support its Hospice at Home Team which provides support to patients and families through the difficult night-time hours.
During 2016, 409 patients were referred to the Hospice at Home Team for end of life or palliative care at home. The team operates a night sitting service from 10pm to 7am and last year delivered 3,562 hours of care as a result of that service.
Jade added: “We were inspired to do the walk as we know what a fantastic place St Barnabas is and we really wanted to raise some money for a place that offers such care to those in our community.”
St Barnabas House is looking for other corporate teams to join Secure Site UK on Saturday 24 June, as well as teams of families, friends and individuals.
Registration for Night to Remember closes on Monday 12 June. You can register here or call the Events Team on 01903 706354.
